Chelsea has been at Nirvana in Barnstaple for almost three years. She has been there since the start of her apprenticeship and has found all the team at the salon really supportive.

鈥淚 really enjoy making a client feel nice once they鈥檝e had their hair cut. It鈥檚 also quite a social job and I definitely like getting to know new people. Apprenticeships are the best way to get into hairdressing, as you鈥檙e in college one day a week and then you鈥檙e in the salon, so you are learning a lot in both places.

Being in college is really different to being at work but it鈥檚 nice to be with different people and socialise with your friends. I also like seeing my teachers as if something happens at work we鈥檙e unsure of, we can come in and ask for help. They bridge that gap between college and work if you need help with anything. I feel supported and I know I can succeed because I can go and talk to them about anything.鈥�
